Can I install the DICE BMW iPod Integration Kit myself?

Yes, you can. Installation is extremely simple, requiring only two physical connections to the vehicle's CD changer port in the back (which are plug and play). Since you can control your iPod using the vehicle's steering wheel / head unit controls and information is displayed on your head unit / nav screen (on 2000 or later BMWs), you can leave the iPod in the trunk where it is connected. However, if you prefer to have physical access to the iPod, you will have to run a small cord to the front of the vehicle, adding some time to the installation.

Does the DICE BMW iPod Integration Kit Charge my iPod?

Yes, it does! While your vehicle is on and your iPod is connected to the DICE iPod Integration Kit, it will be charging.

Can I control my iPod using my factory radio and steering wheel controls with the DICE?

Yes, you can. The DICE allows you to not only control the iPod using your factory radio controls, but it also allows you to view track, album, and artist information! Furthermore, you are also able to use the iPod itself if you prefer.

Will I lose my in-dash CD Player? What about my CD Changer?

If your vehicle is equipped with an in-dash CD player, it will not be affected in any way and functions in conjunction with the DICE iPod Integration Kit. If you have a CD changer, it will be replaced by the DICE iPod Integration Kit. However, for most people this isn't a problem since you'll have access to MUCH more music anyway!

Does the DICE iPod Integration Kit come with everything I need?

Yes, absolutely everything you need except an iPod!

I saved over 350 buying and installing the DICE myself versus going to the dealership and using their overpriced CRAP and expensive labor prices. Author: Kurt McCunniff Unbelievable! I received my Dice IPOD integration kit in two days and was able to install it that night. I spent about two hours on the install process and found no reason that the most amateur person would be capable of performing this task. I also highly recommend the tool kit BSW provides at a reasonable cost which makes the panel removal process a breeze. Sound quality is just as good as the head unit CD player, clear, crisp and clean. Thank you BSW for your excellent customer service.

Author: Steven Just installed it in my E46 325i Sport Wagon. Overall, it was a fairly straight forward install. However, the printed and online instructions were for a sedan or coupe, which are different from the wagon. I had to feed the audio wires through a interior panel that I couldnt remove. This took some time and a little help from my girlfriend. That aside, Im extremely happen with the components and how they integrate into the the cars factory system. I just put the Ipod on shuffle and store it in the glovebox. Now I can skip through songs with the steering wheel controls or radio. Sound quality is great. My local BMW dealer wanted 600+ to do the install! You can beat the sound quality and integration for 150. Ive had both the FM transmitters and Cassete adapters for the ipod. This system is worth every penny. Buy it!

Author: Tamara Wong This adapter was worth waiting for. I was looking for a system that provided true integration, which is why I passed on the OEM part available from the dealer. Being one that scrolls and searches for songs that I just need to hear, having control via the steering wheel, and having the song titles displayed on the LCD is heaven. I also purchased the speck doc and am extremely pleased with how clean the installation looks. It looks like the dock came pre-installed with the car. The entire installation for the adapter and dock took my husband only 2 hours, and he commented that the instructions were well written and easy to follow. Thanks for a great product. This is a Christmas present I will enjoy for years.

Author: Matthew Just installed the DICE kit into my car. First time i ever installed anything in a car. It went pretty easy, toke around hour and a half. It works perfectly and does everything I was hoping for.Very happy with the product. Also installed the docking station and it looks perfect with the original look of the car.

Author: Tom Straight-forward installation and easy to use. I highly recommend that you watch the demonstration video. It shows you exactly what you can and cant do with the DICE integration kit. Also, the install videos are very helpful. BSW takes the guess work out of the installation process. Once everything is hooked up, it takes a few seconds to sync with your head unit, but after that you are ready to go. No more fumbling around for a CD! Your entire music collection is at your fingertips. Using the BMW head unit to control the iPod is pretty straight forward especially if you have already watched the video but is does have its limitations. Namely, you cannot scroll by \artist\. Fortunately, you can disable the head unit controls by pushing the center button on your iPod. This allows you do use your iPod controls. Overall, a great system! In my opinion, it is the best way to hook up an iPod to your BMW.

Author: Richard Brown I kept thinking that there must be a better way to integrate our iPods in our 325ci convertible rather than using the transmitter adapter or cassette adapters we had been using. After doing some research on the web, along with a consult with the knowledgeable folks at BSW, I bought the Dice kit with the spec dock. I was a bit apprehensive about taking my wifes car apart, but within two hours, I was rewarded with wonderful sound and a very professional looking installation that went off without a hitch. Its wonderful to be able to control the iPod from the steering wheel and have song info displayed on the radio. My wife is thrilled and so am I. Keep up your good work, guys!!

Installation only took about 1 hour, and the instructions were very easy to follow. Sound quality is just as good as a CD. Could not have asked for a better product at a better price. Im using mine in combination with the XM satellite radio kit from BSW. Paid much less than the dealer wanted to install these options. Thanks for the high quality product!

Author: Nick C I have no idea how I lived without this product. Getting rid of my CDs and eliminating their clutter was an amazing experience. The sound quality is excellent and the ability to change songs with the steering wheel makes listening to an ipod in the car a safe and enjoyable experience. I installed the dice module myself and though it only took me an hour I really did not enjoy taking apart and putting together my beautiful car. However, the installation process is relatively easy and harmless, it may be troublesome for the nervous. Overall, great product, couldnt be happier witht he final results!

Author: Miguel Tan I was initially a bit leery of taking apart my 330ci, but after checking out the video instructions, it was very, very simple. It took about 30 minutes to install the DICE kit. Using the preexisting CD changer connections in the trunk makes things very simple. The inclusion of an auxillary port on the DICE module is a nice bonus. In addition to learning something about how my car is put togetherby doing it myself, I saved 400-500 in installation fees that the BMW dealership wanted.

Author: David W. The installation of the device was simple as described. All details of the install were included. Installation went beautifully and works very well. The only thing I would add is that I would like to have a better setup manual to give details on the functions of ipod settings like: Album, playlist, etc. I can see the song playing when I am in that mode but cannot if I am in album or playlist mode. Excellent machine and would recommend to anyone who uses an ipod at all.

Author: Doug I installed the Dice iPod integration package into my 2004 330i. The installation was just about as easy as advertised. It would have been even easier if I had watched all the videos first. The videos do a great job of walking through the installation. Overall, running the wire took me about an hour. Once the wire was run and everything was back together, I was listening to tunes on the iPod in a minute or two. The control integration with the BMW radio is seamless. The sound is great!

Author: Jack Beech This is the second item I have ordered from BSW I also oredered their speaker package, and when I first ordered was a little skeptical as most of the after market evices I saw received bad reviews. I must say, this item has done very well and I couldn wait to get rid of the FM transciever I was using to listen to my MP3s. The installation was VERY easy and only took about 30 minutes. I definately recommend.

Author: William Deerfield I ordered the dice kit with the spec doc on 1/15 and it was delivered on 1/18. I had a problem with the module and BSW hooked me up and overnighted one to me. Installation was simple and quick and BSWs video helped a lot. The only snag i had was removing th rear top portion of the seat. Once it was all connected it worked great, sound quality is just what i expected. Quality is top notch and i now have that factory look. Listen to tunes on the way to the mountain, unhook take it with me and still be able to listen to it all the way home. I definitely recommend this product to anyone with an E46. And the spec.dock although pricy for what it is is perfect.

Author: Jason Borchers Overall, I think that Im going to be happy with this product. The installation directions were pretty good, but since I installed my module in the center console, it wouldve been better to have some directions that wouldve guided me for that type of installation, rather than in the glove box. Another thing that I noticed is in regards to the module itself. I found that there really wasn a users guide that talked about controlling the IPOD through the head unit. It took me a little while to figure it out, but I think that I have it now. Overall, I think that Im going to be happy with this kit and overall, the installation instructions were pretty good. To improve it, I would add directions for different installation options as well as a good users guide.

Author: Baugher Recieved the DICE in the mail and got to work the next day. Total the install took only 2 hours. The online instructions are good and recommend reading them first and doing what they say finding everything before install. Had one question on the wires and called with immediate help on the phone and solved the issue in minutes. Once in the dice worked perfectly and then buttoned the car up after confirmation everything worked. Recommend this product for those who like IPODs in there car more than 100 CDs making a mess.

Author: Baugher 2point5 speck.doc review: Puchased the docking station with the DICE module and can recomend this more. The install is simple with the Tool Kit especially while installing the DICE module. The cable from the Docking station can be roughted behind the dash to the DICE behind the glove box easily. Once in the Docking station looks like OEM factory product. Very clean and good looking. Lots of folks have wanted one when they see it. Recommend with purchase of DICE module.

I can not emphasize enough how easy this is to install, especially if you also buy the tool kit like I did. Like many others, Ive never done anything to a car besides fill it with gas and drive it, but this was very straight forward and the online video instructions are phenomenal! I would highly recommend the DICE silverline with the 2point5 spec.dock. When people get in my car the first thing they notice and rave about are the scrolling text coming through my factory stereo and the dock that looks like it came with the car. From a user point of view, being able to control the ipod from the steering wheel is priceless. The search for seamless and very attractive integration stops here!

Author: Brad I installed this in my 2005 33xi a couple days ago. Installation was really easy. Don worry, you CAN do it. At times you may feel like you e getting in over your head OMG you have to take the SEAT out? but its a breeze. The device works great. I had to unplug it to reboot it a couple times so far, but it seems to work much better if you turn the car off before disconnecting any devices. Great product overall!

Author: LATS This Ipod Integration is a must have product! It works great and looks good with the 2point5spec dock that doesn get in your way while you shift from gear to gear. The title and artist runs across your factory deck so you don have to look down and figure out what song is playing. It also gives your car a clean look and everyone will admire your interior.

Author: George S. The Dice module and 2point5 spec. dock are amazing. I am so relieved to throw every CD out of my car and listen to my playlists on my Ipod. The installation was relatively easy however, the instructions should include what the adhesive packaging is for. I eventually figured out that it is used to protect the wiring from the trunk to the glove box. Also, I would strongly recommend the 2point5 spec. dock. It is much more stylish and convenient than the cord connecting to the Ipod.

Author: Roger Installation was easy. The online videos are a definite must and made installation quicker and smoother for a first timer. Only thing unclear was how to get the top part of the back seat out but I managed to wiggle the cable thru without removing the backrest. I got the dock and the integration is awesome. It looks like a factory option. I just have my iPod nano, but pop out the adapter and friends have plugged in iPhones, older iPods, they all worked immediately. Being able to control everything from the steering wheel just makes it that much better. Now all my non-BMW friends are even more jealous...lol Only have one issue that has to do with my Bluetooth. When Im listening to my iPod and I hit the R/T button to scroll thru my phonebook and make a call it causes some sort of strange hiccup with the iPod kit. So I basically need to switch to radio mode to dial out - or use the phone to make the call and still talk over the bluetooth. It doesn seem to like scrolling thru the phonebook when in iPod mode. Recieving calls on the other hand works totally normally with caller ID showing up, can answer and complete the call without issue. Just that the iPod doesn get paused so you may miss a couple of songs during the phone call. Easy enough to back up with the steering wheel controls though. Overall this product with the docking station is just awesome. I know plenty of friends who wish they would make this for other cars as well.

The installation instructions are precise and clear and even I as It pro read the manual :- It took me about 2 hours until I could hear the first sound, but every minute of that work is worth it ! What a shame you don sell in Europe I had to pay 100 bucks import duties :-

The instructions were great, and the video was excellent. Great product! I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for the best device to bring your IPOD into your Bimmer.

Author: Richard Ficalora What an excellent product! It was pretty simple to install. I truly recommend that you watch the instructional video, as it provides helpful hints, which are not included in the printed instructions. The hassle of dealing with an FM signal dropping in and out is gone! I also connected my Sirius radio through the Aux connection and now have clear sound. I did need to add a noise filter between the Sirius radio and the Dice unit.
